How do you deal with psoriasis?

I used to have psoriasis on my ankle, the top of my feet, my knees, and my elbows.
but now it’s subsided to only ankle, it looks horrible and people always ask what happened to my ankle.
i’ve tried doctor’s prescriptions but they burn and don’t help, and i use normal lotion daily.
usually the lotion with reduce the scaly look, but it makes my ankle red and puffy,
