Shampoo For Psoriasis

Does my baby have psoriasis?

My son is 5 months old and I noticed the other day when we were outside that he had light yellow spots on his head. I have psoriasis and it’s on my head so I’ve never really seen what it looks like. Could my son have this? I thought maybe his hair just wasn’t being washed out good enough so I make sure to rinse it out very well. The spots are still there and it does flake off. Any ideas? I’m taking him to the doctor in a few weeks I just thought I’d ask for some other people’s opinions. Also I use t-gel shampoo for my psoriasis I’m not sure if it would be safe for him to use it. Are there any products for babies that I could try? Thanks
Oh my goodness thank you so much! I have never heard of cradle cap but Iooked up some pictures and it does look like it. Only my son doesn’t have it that bad.

Like the other answers say, it is probably cradle cap. Cradle cap can be all levels of severity and really you don’t even need to do anything about it. It will go away on it’s own, eventually. But if it bothers you (it doesn’t bother the baby) you can soak his hair with olive oil or baby oil for about 15 mins and then scrape it off, or just wash his hair 2-3 times a week and it’ll go away. My son had pretty bad cradle cap and he’s now almost 6 months and it’s pretty much gone. I didn’t do anything to try and get rid of it except to pick at it every now and then.

Just so you know for the future, psoriasis looks like white crusty skin over red skin. I thought my baby might have it (it looks like it was just bad eczema) as my husband has it and it looked very similar. Per the pediatrician, it is very unusual for an infant to develop psoriasis, if they are going to get it it will usually develop much later on.

Good luck with that cradle cap! (:
